Preservation and archiving

RODBUK has a multi-layered security system for access. Only registered individuals can deposit research data into the repository, and they must log in using their institutional Central Data Authentication System. This login process utilizes either the OIDC (OpenID Connect) or SAML2 protocols. Each login requires an email address and an authentication password provided during the initial login. The logged-in user has access only to the specific collection assigned by the data steward.

For long-term archiving, RODBUK stores deposited data on Cyfronet AGH servers. This involves tasks such as media changes, format conversions, integrity checks, authenticity reviews, availability control, and data reading and presentation. These tasks apply to both digital objects and metadata.

Long-term data storage is maintained through regular backups. Active data is backed up by replicating it from the source location to a separate, isolated target location. This backup process ensures consistency between the source and backup data, both at the level of individual files and entire datasets.
