Step 3. Notifications

When the user submits a dataset for review, a notification will appear in your account under the Notifications tab, indicating that the dataset is awaiting verification. An automatic email will also be sent. To open the dataset, click the link provided in the email.

Then log in to your data steward account and verify the dataset for completeness and accuracy. The deposited dataset should comply with the standards adopted by RODBUK.

Four main categories of data must be verified: Files, Metadata, Licenses and Terms, and Versions, grouped in appropriate tabs.

Note: The current version of The Dataverse Project software (6.4 as of February 2025) does not differentiate between new datasets and subsequent versions of previously published ones. Therefore, in both cases, you will receive an automatic notification about a new dataset. Upon receiving the notification, your first step should be to check whether it is a completely new dataset or a new version of an already published one. To do this, check the Versions tab.

If the submitted dataset is a new version of a previously published one, you should review the changes introduced by the depositor. The list of changes is also available in the Versions tab.

In the case of a new dataset, you can start the verification by checking the correctness of the metadata.
