RODBUK offers a publicly accessible platform for depositing research datasets, in alignment with the principles of Open Science. Its primary goal is to collect, archive, and openly share a wide range of research data generated by scholars in the course of their scientific work.
This is the first repository of its kind in Poland (launched on March 6, 2023), jointly developed by six universities: AGH University of Krakow, Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Cracow University of Technology, Krakow University of Economics, University of the National Education Commission in Krakow, and the University of Physical Culture in Krakow. The technical implementation of the project is carried out by the Academic Computer Centre Cyfronet AGH.
Each university manages its own collection within the system, while all research data resources are visible to users through a shared aggregator. This structure enables:
All published metadata comply with the guidelines provided by the Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe (OpenAIRE). The repository follows the principles developed by the international GO FAIR initiative, aimed at making data reusable by both machines and humans. The application of FAIR principles means that data are:
RODBUK is registered in the Registry of Research Data Repositories, a list of repositories recommended by the National Science Centre (NCN) in Poland.
To deposit research data in the Repository, user must have an active account in the domain of one of the partner universities and accept the RODBUK Terms of use and Privacy policy. Logging in is done through the authentication system of the respective university.
Data are shared in the form of datasets - organized collections tied to a particular publication, research project, or experiment.
In accordance with the guidelines of research funding institutions, research data should be saved in open formats (e.g., OpenDocument, PNG, FLAC, WebM, HTML, CSS), which are widely accessible and free of charge, except in cases where converting files from specialized software to open formats may negatively impact data quality.
Each dataset should be accompanied by documentation detailing all necessary information for comprehending and accurately interpreting the shared data. Including a README file with key information is considered a best practice.
The Repository is intended for researchers affiliated with partner institutions who wish to deposit and share their research data. Use of the Repository is free of charge.
